Presenting museum quality vintage Bisbee Turquoise Sterling Silver ring from the incomparable Hispanic silversmith, Alberto Contreras. Featuring a huge 25.5 x 17.0mm freeform Bisbee Turquoise cabochon, with a pocket of quartz inclusion and distinctive reddish-brown matrix. The gemstone is nestled in a sawtooth bezel and set on a shadowbox mount with bold file and chisel marks, suggesting the four directions. The ring also features his trademark double shank band. Mentored by the legendary Frank Patania Sr. in 1949 at his Thunderbird Shop here in Tucson, Alberto (1928 – 1999), along with his six sons, became internationally renowned for their extraordinary Southwestern jewelry.
