Presenting an authentic Old Pawn Navajo Turquoise Sterling Silver open cuff bracelet, circa 1950’s. Featuring an outstanding triangular Tyrone Turquoise cabochon set in a smooth bezel and framed with bold twisted wire rope, fine stampwork and silver drop beads. Handsome twisted wire rope brackets join the open three bands to create a stylish piece. The thick gauge cuff bracelet is inscribed with a pair of genuine old pawn marks. The term Old Pawn (aka Dead Pawn) originated from trading posts at the turn of the last century, when Southwestern tribes would pawn personal heirlooms in trade for supplies. Often, these exceptional pieces would go unclaimed, rendering them as “dead pawn”.
