Southwestern Apache artist Allan Houser is a grandson of Geronimo and a popular artist in mixed medias of painting and sculpture. This silk screen print called, “Apache Crown Dancer,” is an example of his early historic work. An Apache dancer in full costume is dancing with a sword in each clenched fist with a large crown on his head. His legs are raised in a marching step and white war paint is on a blackened skin from his waist to the top of his head.
