1896 O VAM 4 Micro O Morgan Dollar VG
Well worn with a pleasing gray color. This variety is now recognized as having been “privately made” and not an official US government product. The experts listed this as a legitimate collectible for 40+ years when a group of micro O dollars of 3 different dates seperated by years were submitted for authentication that it was discovered they were struck from the same reverse die, which is not even a remote possibility. They are still collected as a VAM and are still very scarce and an interesting piece of US coin collecting history.
