Today’s coin of the day is this stunning 1935 Connecticut Tercentenary Commemorative Half Dollar.
As the name implies, this coin commemorates the 300th anniversary of the founding of Connecticut and features an eagle on the obverse and the famous Charter Oak on the reverse.
The Charter Oak is an important part of Connecticut History, as it hid the Royal Charter of 1662 to avoid confiscation by the British Governor, and as such is a symbol of American freedom and independence.
This beautiful piece of Connecticut history was acquired from a coin collector in Boston, MA.
It is without a doubt a rare find and is in an NGC Holder graded AU58.
