With Thanksgiving next week and Christmas only about a month away, we figured you’d want to pull out your silver for your holiday dinners or even just for decoration.
Here is a quick guide on how to care for and properly maintain your silver.
The first thing you’ll need is a bottle of silver polish and a polishing cloth, neither are very expensive and last a long time, you can probably buy both for under $15.00.
Take your silver polish and shake the bottle well, then apply it with the polish cloth using a back and forth motion until the silver is covered and all tarnish is removed
Then let the polish dry.
Next you wipe away the dried polish with a clean, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.
And that is it! Your silver will look as good as new!
Then to clean your silver you can wash it by hand or in the dishwasher, although you should use diluted soap and if using a dishwasher, you need to SEPARATE your silverware and your stainless steel cutlery as they will have a chemical reaction in the dishwasher and permanently damage the silver. It is also important to note that if you silver has gold accents it is best to wash them by hand to protect the integrity of the gold finish.
