Today’s coin of the day is this 1926 S Oregon Trail Commemorative. This particular coin is certified as uncirculated by NGC and has been slabbed.
The 1926 Oregon Trail Commemorative was created to celebrate the lives and efforts of the Pioneers who sacrificed so much to blaze the 2,000 mile trail across the west.
Minted in 1926, 1928, 1933,1934, and 1936-1939, this particular date and mint mark only 83,000 were minted.
The obverse features a Native American holding a bow in one hand, with his other arm outstretched. The reverse features a wagon being pulled by two oxen.
