300 years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth the U.S. Mint released a coin to commemorate them. This was the silver 1920 Pilgrim 50 cent piece.
This particular coin shows a depiction of the second Governor of Plymouth, William Bradshaw in traditional pilgrim garb and holding what has been assumed to be a Bible.
The reverse of the coin has an image of the Mayflower surrounded by the words Pilgrim Tercentenary Celebration, as well as 1620 1920.
Designed by Cyrus E. Dallin, only 152,000 of these coins were minted.
What better way to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving then to come check out one of these coins for yourself at tomscoinworld.com or in one of our brick and mortar locations.
