This sterling silver flat handle master butter knife was made by Wallace and the pattern is Wishing Star. This pattern was issued from 1954-1980. It is in excellent condition.

Wallace Silversmiths were originally founded by Robert Wallace, the descendent of enterprising Scottish immigrants, in an old grist mill making spoons under the name R. WALLACE & CO.

The company continued and prospered and continued to operate, under various owners in Wallingford, Connecticut until 1986. Meriden and its neighboring town of Wallingford were famed for being the home to the finest New England silversmiths for centuries.
